When the owners of Two North Riverside Plaza began phased remodeling of the historical 1929 structure, Althoff Industries was awarded the contract to replace the Pneumatic Building Automation systems and integrate existing proprietary legacy control systems with a new System (BAS). “Inside the building was a hodgepodge of obsolete equipment and technologies,” said Rami Nassib, Director of the Althoff Technology Group.
A worldwide leader in disposable healthcare products recently expanded their suburban Chicago manufacturing facility with a 15,300 square foot ISO Class 8 Clean room. The client’s Boston-based engineering firm developed an initial “Basis of Design” for the project calling for four 100-ton (400-tons total) rooftop HVAC units to handle the temperature, humidity and air pressure requirements within the clean room.
Lake Shore Drive Condo
27-story luxury condo located on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago chose to replace their original HVAC unit with a 70-ton air-cooled model. Air-cooled chillers offer many advantages over water-cooled chillers including transferring heat via ambient air circulation which allows the building to decrease water bills and increase environmental friendliness of the building. Chiller installation included careful planning via the Althoff team with both building management and the city of Chicago.
